The Royal Carriage Inn was built in 1922 by Royal H Rushing. The original name of the hotel was the Royal Hotel. The hotel was advertised as "luxurious in every detail and a paved road was to be had outside." In the 1920's the hotel had a ballroom and a restaurant and reportedly had a "back bar" on the first floor during prohibition days.
For relaxation and good conversation we offer two balconies to put your feet up. The front balcony overlooks Main Street. Watch the activity on Main Street filled with visitors from all over the world. Our second balcony is located in the rear of the main building overlooking our garden. We have swinging seats to bring back the cherished times as a child. When is the last time you sat in a swing?

The gardens at the Royal Carriage Inn are a combination of the old and new. Old being part of previous landscaping and new being enhancing on some of what once was beauty to another. It is a labor of love and certainly one of endurance with the hot weather we can experience here in the Mother Lode. Of course, as any gardener knows, gardens are seasonal. Here are some pictures of what we are working on. We hope you find our gardens even more beautiful when you stay with us than the pictures you are viewing now.
